My Story
My Why
The reason I take photographs has changed over the years. What started out as an obsessional hobby where I would take my camera on every outing, no matter how mundane that outing would be, and take photographs at every opportunity was because I was drawn to do this.
Then the hobby turned into a purpose.
Even though I have been photographing on a professional level since I was twenty-three I soon realised, when I was twenty-nine and my little Cecilia came along, that I’d not fully understood the magnitude of this art medium.
I suddenly had this beautiful little being and every photograph I took of her felt like I had just made a new time capsule. And that was the moment.
She became my why.
And along the way I found true purpose in taking a photograph, capturing a moment, and looking for the real emotion in a moment.
Who am I?
Well, I’m not 24601 (any musical nuts out there like me?)
Who am I? I know what I like: quiet days, a tidy home (not really possible at the moment with a 4 year old and a puppy), browsing antique shops, painting, reading, writing and listening to music and musical theatre soundtracks. These are the things that still my mind and bring me peace.
A bit of a strange fashion sense:I dress like a fisherman crossed with a farmer and a train driver-it’s a style I’ve adopted in my 30’s and I think it’s here to stay. Chunky knits, leather belts and thick cotton trousers- what more does a girl need?
Oh, and I love eating bread and pastries, I think I’ll retire to France or Italy one day and live off this staple diet…one day, but for now I’m here, enjoying this crazy thing called life and reminding myself daily to be present.
