The Chimney House and The Mowbray is a firm favourite for that perfect Sheffield Wedding!
Rebecca and David booked me to be their wedding photographer in Sheffield. They opted for a short coverage of their wedding day, I met them at The Chimney House where they had their ceremony and then we did the infamous walk round to The Mowbray where their reception was.
The Chimney House, Kelham Island- A Sheffield Wedding Ceremony
For anyone choosing to be married in Sheffield, The Chimney House is a must see! Attached to the Kelham Island Museum and overlooked by Jarvis Cocker over the river- it holds so much of what Sheffield is famous for.
David and Rebecca are one stylish couple, and their Sheffield wedding hit all the style notes. It was classic, clean, understated and very much them.
When I arrived at The Chimney House, it presented itself the same as I’ve always seen it; filled with candle light and single stem flowers. Romantic and moody with the underlying notes of its industrial heritage.
During the ceremony in The Chimney House, David and Rebecca’s son wouldn’t leave their side. He made a great addition to the ceremony, adding smiles and a few rounds of “awwwww” from their family and friends.
At the end of their ceremony their daughter ran in to be a part of the moment and everything just felt so wonderful. The Chimney House was the perfect venue for Rebecca and David to hold their ceremony- it’s such an intimate space.

As a wedding photographer I can sometimes find this part of the ceremony a little stiff- but something I have learnt to do over the many years of capturing weddings is look for the little moments during this time.
Because the Chimney House is such a small intimate wedding space, it allowed me to remain close to Rebecca and David during this moment- capturing them holding hands, the way Rebecca’s dress flowed round the table, and their witnesses approaching the table to also sign the register.
When it comes to the ‘staged’ photos during this time, I’m quick. I’ve already captured the moments you will want to see, but I’m sure to grab you a ‘must have’ for your gallery of you both looking at each other, and sometimes this is where couples like to embrace the moment and kiss once more.
Kelham Island Wedding Photography
Rebecca and David booked me to cover 3 hrs of their wedding day- they wanted their wedding ceremony at the Chimney House, couple portraits of them both walking through Kelham Island, candid shots of them with their family and friends and their speeches at The Mowbray.
After their ceremony at The Chimney House, the guests made their way over to The Mowbray and I photographed Rebecca and David walking through Kelham Island.
Kelham Island is such a fabulous place to have your wedding photos taken. It is so diverse that it gives you so much in your gallery. The walk took us around 15 minutes, but they did stop in at one of the pubs on the way round for a quick shot in celebration of being newly married.
Having your wedding photographs taken around Kelham Island means you have colour, with it’s vibrant artworks, but it also means you have beautiful architecture. Beautiful Sheffield Industrial buildings that built our City.
The Mowbray- A Sheffield Wedding
I always find it hard to describe what The Mowbray feels like- it is just one of those places you have to see! I’ve been fortunate enough to capture several weddings at The Mowbray over the years and it never gets old. The space is simply stunning and been brought back to life so lovingly. A wedding reception at The Mowbray is seamless- it looks beautiful, it feels beautiful, the food is glorious, the attention to detail is a credit to the restoration project and the staff!!!!! The staff that do anything for you to make your day perfect.
The Rooftop at The Mowbray
David and Rebecca had told me beforehand that they wanted 5 minutes on the rooftop for some couple photographs. I’m so glad we managed to squeeze this in just before the winter sun dipped down for the evening.
Wedding Speeches at The Mowbray
During speeches on a wedding day, I like to move around the room. This allows me to get plenty of angles and different natural captures of your guests too. Speeches are such a lovely thing to capture on a wedding day.
