Peak District Maternity Session
Pregnancy is such a beautiful journey.
It sure can be a tough journey, and we all have our own stories to tell of this time in our lives.
This is a moment that deserves to be captured.
There’s something so special about a pregnant woman. I remember being pregnant and feeling so different to any other time in my life.
Maternity sessions are pure MAGIC! That is why when it comes to your maternity sessions I just LOVE to take you out into the Peak District and bring all the magic of the landscape right into the image too.
As a maternity photographer I look for those angles that accentuate your baby. I like to keep everything calm and relaxing and just capture those soft moments of you and your baby womb-side.
Here is beautiful Eve from a recent maternity session out in the Peak District.
My top tips for a maternity session
- Keep your clothes neutral. I offer a client wardrobe but if you would prefer to wear your own pieces stick to soft tones and without print- favourite colours include: cream, beige, brown and khaki. I would stay clear of bright white, black and grey as this can look too strong on an image and takes away from the softness and earthy tones of the background.
- bring your scan photos- this doesn’t have to be a cheesy look, but it is a lovely way to document the moment of your growing baby and to show a photo of them in the overall image too.
- Don’t be afraid of the wind- I LOVE to shoot in the wind and rain. If we get either of these conditions on your shoot just go with it, let the wind sweep your hair, let the rain fall onto you- natural elements make for natural photos- there’s a reason I don’t do studio work, you miss out on all of this richness.
- wear your favourite jewellery.
- Go barefoot. If we are able to take your shoes off we will- it’s a perfect way to feel like Mother Earth out in the moors and will centre and soothe you.
