Picturesque Chapel followed by a reception at The Maynard
Photographing wedding days is so special- to get to know a couple on one of their most important and special days is so lovely. You learn so much about them during the morning preparations, their ceremony, what people say about them during speeches and how they can throw shapes on the dance floor.
Meeting with Lynn and James was a total fluke. They actually lived about 20 houses away from me and I had never seen or met them before, but they saw me post on our local FB group after their photographer had had to cancel because of covid…it must have been fate because I feel like I was meant to be with them on their wedding day.
Their chilled out and fun-loving nature was apparent right from the off. With Lynn getting ready at her home with her mum and sister with the talented Zoe in charge of glamming the girls with her magic makeup paintbrushes and Amy pulling out all the stops with hair.
Lynn’s sister had made her a gift with all her favourite things to open as well as some treasures to keep to remember her morning and wedding day.
Little Longstone Chapel is straight out of a romcom movie- the cutest little thing you ever did see and the arch way was dressed so beautifully by Cath, the owner of Of The Wild. I loved how Lynn and James had opted for a burnt orange for their summer wedding, it created so much drama and had such a richness as it is more typical of an autumn wedding (which is why I’ll say again *and if you know me you’ll be sick of hearing me say it* “you do you on your wedding day- there are NO rules”).
Lynn arrived…need a say more, just look at her!
They did their ceremony their own way- with a celebrant who wrote their whole service personal to them- personalised vows and a hand tying at the end of the ceremony.
And then it was on to The Maynard for drinks in the sun, and a lush set up of candlelight and cakes in the reception room. You’ll notice that they very cleverly had lawn games for the children to entertain themselves while the adults knocked back the beers.
After speeches and food it was time to hit the Peak District’s rolling hills and dramatic landscapes for a quick couple session. We went with blue hour (just after the sun dips at sunset) for some drama and I love how these photographs turned out with this lighting.
Then…the moment you’ve all been waiting for- an Ibiza rave in the middle of Derbyshire at a Covid restricted wedding- I never thought those words would be typed in a blog, but here we are and it was bloody incredible.
The Maynard in Derbyshire pulled out all the stops for this wedding- it might have been small in guests but it was HUGE in style. The Maynard Wedding Venue is a beautiful place to be married and the food is delicious.
Everything was perfect for James and Lynn, just as it ought to have been. Two very special people who are now the proud owners of the cutest puppy and are about to be parents for the first time.
Total dream 🙂
